Important information about Auction Safes

I've done some repeated testing on auction safes and there are some details everyone may want to consider when biding on an item on an auction safe.

The good news is that, if you bid on an item, win the bid, and pick up the item before the three day pickup window closes, then everything seems to work as intended.

The bad news is that if you win a bid and you don't pick up the item before the three day pickup window closes, then you've lost the amount of the winning bid, the total amount you bid, and you have to hope to auction safe owner will give you the item. However its very hard for the auction safe owner to confirm who the winning bidder was.

To explain this a different way, lets say there is an item for auction with a minimum bid of 500k. You decide you want to bid on the item and you would pay up to 600k, so you place a 600k bid. All of the 600k is immediately withdrawn from your bank account.

For this example, lets say no one else bids and you win the item for 500k. When the auction ends, 500k is deposited in the bank account of the auction safe owner. Now, for unknown reasons you aren't able to go pick up the item you won before the 3 day window closes. Now, the auction safe owner has your 500k and the item you bid on. The 100k extra from your 600k bid is now gone forever. It is not returned to your bank account. I've tested this multiple times and this happened every time.

The only time you get the excess gold back is when you pick up the item before the three day window closes. In this case, the extra gold from the bid (100k from the above example) is put back into your bank when you pick up the item you won from the auction safe.

So my advice to everyone is to make sure you go pick up your item before the three day pickup window closes, or you risk losing the entire amount of gold you bid and the item you bid on.

Well, on the upside, we do need as many gold sinks as possible to keep the economy in check.

But very interesting information nonetheless. Thanks a lot for testing and letting us know, Starcon!
