MMORPG.com has hosted some developer answers from the Jumpgate Evolution forums; you know, the "blue" answers. There's some really useful tidbits of information there. The questions ranged everywhere from gatecamping, to manual docking, to PVP servers and how to boost yourself away from combat.  For instance:

When you've done as much investigative work on the details of a game as the editors at JGEWiki.com have, diving into the game for the first time is an experience unlike anything the drive-by fan will ever know. At NetDevil's reception on the 20th floor of the St.

"Nothing can prepare you for the journey that is about to unfold..."

For anyone who hasn't had an opportunity to see Jumpgate Evolution first hand, that statement is not one tossed out there just to entice you to buy the game. It is a statement that definitely reflects the true scope of what NetDevil will deliver when Jumpgate Evolution is released.

Stratics had an opportunity to spend some time with Hermann Peterscheck, Producer of Jumpgate Evolution and catch up on the latest game developments. First seen by this writer at SFGDC last year, Jumpgate Evolution immediately stood out from other titles for many reasons – the most obvious being the devotion NetDevil has to bringing a very unique MMO to us upon release. This level of commitment is unwavering, as any person who has followed the development of the game will agree.

NetDevil's concept artist Kirk Lunsford took time out of his busy schedule to grant us an interview to Stratics' Erica "Ezrael" Knight about his involvement in the upcoming title Jumpgate Evolution.

Stratics: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us Kirk. Many gamers aren't aware of the many roles behind the scenes in game production. Can you give us a brief overview of what it is you are responsible for as a concept artist?

Kirk: Concept artists are responsible for defining the art style and direction for a game. Everything in Jumpgate Evolution is sketched first, then modeled and textured, then evaluated in the game. Every sketch for these assets are created by the concept artist and typically includes various topics such as spaceships, space stations, buildings, environments, etc.

We witnessed the birth of a new website and forum yesterday for Jumpgate Evolution, the upcoming sci-fi action MMOG from NetDevil that will allow players to discover space as pilots of their spaceship. If that doesn't ring a bell, then take a look at games like the original Jumpgate Classic, X-wing VS Tie-Fighter, Wing Commander and of course the famous Elite. The fresh website incorporated a move to the servers of publisher Codemasters, as well as the creation of new forums.

The NetDevil team have published the following statement on their website to clarify some things to the JGE Community considering the move:

Many of you may be wondering why we’ve closed down the old Jumpgate Evolution forums and started fresh on Codemasters forums. It was a very tough decision for everyone to make but there are several definitive reasons as to why we’ve done this.

First of all, we wanted to start fresh with the new website launch and the best way to start fresh is to start clean. By creating a more detailed beta application form (which as you know has required everyone to re-sign up) we’ve had to incorporate Codemasters Code M registration system. This is so all beta applicants can be found and contacted more easily, it also allows us to draw the appropriate information we need to conduct a successful beta campaign and to ensure the game is tested to the highest possible quality.

By having the requirement of a Code M account for beta it made sense to use the Codemasters forums as a central hub, else we’d be requesting players create multiple log in accounts for something which could effectively be resolved via universal Code M logins.

We have big plans going forward for Jumpgate Evolution, the Code M login to the forums is a short term solution which will be in place from now until beta. Once we get closer to the launch we’re looking to put in place a universal login system which allows us to tie all of our different login systems (Code M, Codemasters Player Account Systems and NetDevil billing System) into one unique login – this means by launch you will be able to log into the game using any login credentials be that Code M or game player accounts.

This will also provides us the ability to develop exciting new features for the global portal including features such as leaderboards, player profiling and much, much more, but that is for another day! :-)

Don't worry, if you are a previous Jumpgate forum member you can also still view the old Jumpgate forums; we’ve archived them. If you had a username on the old forums that you’ve not been able to acquire on the new forums then please send an e-mail to liquilla@codemasters.com and we’ll look into the issue for you.

Thanks for your support in this process and we look forward to seeing you in-game soon.

In other words: exciting times are about to start as this change in websites brings the team one step closer to announcing beta. Be certain that we'll be following this promising game's future up close at Stratics!
