Turbine, Inc. and Codemasters would like to give a heads up warning about some suspicious activity in game via in game emails and tells.

ALERT: Notification of Suspicious Activity

We have been made aware of suspicious account requests via in game email and tells. These requests are very convincing and provide links to a site that has cloned the appearance of the lotro.com website. All players should be aware that this is not a valid site and is in no way associated with Turbine.

Example email/Tell:
“Becasuse you suspected of lllegal trade for gold, system will freeze your ID after one hour.If you have any questions, please login (URL) to make a complaint .We will be processing as soon as possible.Thank you for your understanding!”

Please be aware that all ingame contacts from a Turbine employee will have a '+' before their name. For example: +Sapience.

We are currently investigating reports and will take appropriate actions.

As well, be aware of phishing email scams. I personally just recieved an email phishing letter at an email address that I had never registered with Blizzard, telling me I need to click on a link to secure my World of Warcraft account...

The Lord of the Rings Online has shown the spotlight upon a Character of Middle-earth named "Aarnikka" last week.

"The Earth-kin of Lehmä-koti rely heavily upon silk for many things, such as clothing, bandages, and rope, and that silk is often procured from spiders. The weaver Aarnikka is tasked with acquiring and preparing this spider-silk for use."

The Lord of the Rings Online has released a Feature Article entitle "Fellowship Manoeuvres" that outlines and details the use of these tactics while in a Fellowship!

The Lord of the Rings Online has pointed the spotlight upon a Player Guide entitled "How to Choose the Best Beard for You" being chosen by Turbine, Inc. in honor of their annual facial hair growing competition. The Community Guide was created by community member "Fear the Beard" Sigram in the newly created Humorous Guides Category.

The "How to Choose the Best Beard for You" Player Guide offers some no nonsense, tongue-in-cheek advice on the most important topic on any good Dwarf's mind, choosing the correct beard. He covers topics such as style and length, and provides some unique alternate utilities for you beard.

Today, The Lord of the Rings Online shines the spotlight on a Point of Interest in the world of Middle-earth, the Chamber of Mazarbul. Once a chief repository of dwarf-lore and later becoming the tomb of Balin where the Fellowship of the Ring found the Book of Mazarbul, which details the experiences of Balin's doomed company of dwarves.

Turbine, Inc. has announced the launch of its award-winning massively multiplayer online game, The Lord of the Rings Online™, in Russia and Korea. Through partnerships with NHN in Korea and ITT in Russia, Turbine continues to expand The Lord of the Rings Online around the world.  Turbine currently operates The Lord of the Rings Online in North America and Europe.

The Lord of the Rings Online has released a Feature Article, "Hero's Guide to Customization," which explains character customization starting with character creation all the way through outfitting your character with the cutsomization tabs that become available upon reaching level 20. 

"How can you make your hero unique? How can you craft a character that stands out from the thousands scurrying across the face of Middle-earth? The four races and nine classes make for a broad variety of combinations, but it is still not enough, given all the players. The Lord of the Rings Online has released an article entitled "Exploring Middle-earth: Chetwood" that gives an overview of that area in Middle-earth. Read the Article for details on the land described as, "a large forest stretching from the north, beyond Bree, to the south, past Combe and Staddle. The Blackwold brigands have established their strongholds in the south of the Chetwood, while wild and dangerous animals make their abodes in the north."
